An abandoned asylum. Wasn’t worth the risk going inside though :/
I’m assuming this is Rockwood Asylum in Kingston, Ontario. It has an absolutely fascinating history. Initially, when women first started getting committed to asylums in Canada, Rockwood wanted to keep the male and female populations separate and women were housed in the stables and in horrible conditions.
“Oh much I wish that I were able
To build a house like Cartwright’s stable
For it doth cause me great remorse
To be worse housed than Cartwright’s horse”
I remember researching this building in the Kingston Archives and if I remember correctly, the lead doctor (who was narrating the patient logs I was going through) was eventually murdered by drowning out back (the asylum faces lake Ontario) by a patient. Another doctor took over the records. They were often really banal and straightforward until a doctor got murdered.
If you’re interested, I can share some pictures I’ve taken of the asylum over the years. It was always a dream of mine to break in but I’ve always chickened out. My ex girlf and I did get into the greenhouses once and skulked about in there.

Klaus Leidorf (Germany) - Aerial Photography
German photographer Klaus Leidorf is an aerial archaeologist who likes to observe the human artifacts from a bird’s eye view. Perched at the window of his Cessna 172, he crisscrosses the skies above Germany, capturing images of farms, cities, industrial sites, and whatever else he discovers along his flight path. Since the late 1980s Leidorf has shot thousands upon thousands of aerial photographs and currently relies on the image-stabilization technology in his Canon EOS 5D Mark III which is able to capture the detail of single tennis ball as it flies across a court. Collectively the photos present a fascinating study of landscapes transformed by the hands of people - sometimes beautiful, sometimes frightening. (src. Colossal)

Taken in Iceland. One of the most unique landscape photos I’ve ever seen.
